Loss is a powerful thing. It has the ability to tear people apart, but at the same time put them back together stronger than ever. I honestly did not know what to expect going into a party that I have attended for a couple of years due to the circumstances. It had been a long week for everyone and my own level of mental thought and emotion had left me exhausted. I'm sure others felt the same way, but as I said before loss has the power to bring people together. It was great to see familiar faces and even better to see those faces happy and smiling. It was great to see people having a good time and being completely free with one another in a shared space that felt like a safe haven from everything that had been surrounding them before that moment. Nothing needed to be said or discussed and we did not need to let the sadness of thought creep its way into this particular event. This was a celebration in every sense of the word. Although, we all were sharing the pain we did not allow it to destroy a beautiful moment. Instead it manifested itself in different ways. The hugs were a little bit longer, the laughs were a little louder, and friends told friends how much they meant to one another often. We sang songs and shared bottles in celebration of our own lives and in celebration of one that we lost way too soon. I hope I captured that here.
Go easy Mighty Buffalo. We are all going to miss you.
