I don't shoot a lot of concerts. I used to go to a ton of shows, but then just kind of stopped. In the past two months I have had the chance to shoot a couple and instead of viewing it how I always do I decided to challenge myself to get better photos than I ever have while covering concerts. I enjoyed this show immensely since it was the second time that I got to see them, but even more because I was pumped to be cleared to shoot it officially. It felt good to step out of my comfort zone and not have complete control over the situation or fully know what I was doing. Easy to forget that sometimes you have to just go in blind to learn how to do things. The excitement of the unknown and the unsure is always a bit of a rush especially when you get back to the home base and the images turned out half decent. Think I'll be trying to shoot more shows coming up. Big thanks to The Southern in Charlottesville, Virginia and Bloodshot Records for hooking me up with the pass.:)
